Professional Statement

My passion and drive for health care is rooted in my upbringing. In 2016, my father was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. As a teenager, it was very difficult to see my father sick and at the hand of a dozen unfamiliar health specialists. Following his thyroidectomy, he was referred to a Speech Therapist who quickly abetted him in regaining confidence and control in his voice and swallow function. It was in this moment that I realized, I too, wanted to aid patients in assessing and treating communicative disorders to help individuals regain confidence and affection for life.

It is my mission to make a progressive transformation in the health care system by ensuring that all patients undergo improved and personalized care tailored to the specific needs of that individual . In essence, my main aspiration is to see every patient receive timely and quality care at all times despite their race, age, socioeconomic status, or personality. I am committed to providing confident and professionally competent care to all patients and to their emerging healthcare needs. I am also determined to offer solutions in bringing quality care to meet the emerging healthcare needs of diverse and underserved populations.

Upon graduating, I plan to complete the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) examination with intent to begin my journey in health promotion at community centers, schools, hospitals, and public health agencies. Following certification, the next milestone for me would be acceptance into an accredited Master’s Speech-Language Pathology program where I can finally demonstrate the skills I have acquired in program planning and needs assessment.
